If you like me are completely nuts for comics then we are in the same road 😉

Reading a good comic or book is always a pleasant experience; if I have to explain the different styles we will need a book due the big options. Probably the most popular styles are the American style like Marvel, the European one (with tons of amazing cartoonist) and Manga from Japan.

But I was curious with the idea of creating one myself so here we are. This blog brings you a fantastic explanation how the creative process takes place in order to make a regular comic.

But this web site will make your life easier if your drawings are as bad as mine 😉 the idea is fantastic and very simple to use, so I hope you can enjoy it as I will do it. Marvel has a similar option but is trully poor.

You never know if your comic will became popular a dn it can ends up un Comicon  or many of the shows run in different countries.

And if you are in the lazy mood check this video to start and pull your interest 😉

Comics has been mainly done by men and for men; but thankfuly this is not anymore for few years.

There is a long list of women making incredibly beautiful pieces of art in the comic sector.

I will mention some of the most well known names in Europe but I pretty sure I will leave some other out, so feel free to add them into the comments 😉

The ilustration on top belongs to Sonia Pulido a fantastic designer and cartoonist from Spain, her pinterest will bring you into her personal eye.

Since the 80’s in Spain were creating good designs in the magazines “Madriz, El Cairo and El Vibora”; the top girls involved into this opera were Laura Perez-Vernetti, Ana Juan, Ana Miralles, Sonia Pulido and Clara-Tanit.

Since then the groups has been getting bigger and there are new subjetcs into the erotic side of the female perspective like “El Toro Blanco” (The White Bull) by Laura Perez Vernetti; who has been sbject in many universitary studies due her talent and unique style in the erotic side in the comic industry.

EncyclopĂ©die de la bande dessinĂ©e Ă©rotique contains 150 designers ilustrating the sexual view into cartoons. Laura wasn’t inclusive by surprice of many.  Giovanna Casotto and the Spaniards Monica and Beatriz publising “Las pequeñas viciosas” (Viciousland) were on the list showing clearly that the erotic comic created by women and for women is not well known yet.

Ana Miralles has been making incredibly erotic piece of art like this previous ilustration part of the comic called Djinn.

The list is long enought to keep you interested in discover a new side creted by women, so here are more names if you are interested to jump into their fantastic creations:

Rosa Montero, Anne Herbauts, Simone Lia, Gabrielle Bell, Jeanne Puchol, Barbara Yelin, Kati Kovacs, Diana Schuzt, Purita Campos, Consuelo Gil, Trina Robbins, Chantal Montellier, Asun Balzola, Marika, Victoria Martos, HĂ©loĂŻse Guerrer, Angeles Felices, Juliana Buch, Trini Tinture, Clara- Tanit Arque, Esther Gili, Maria Colino, Enkaru (Encarnita Robles), Ester Garcia Punzano, Maruam Naville, Laura Baron, Emma Rios, Raquel Alzate, Victoria Frances, Marjane Satrapi, Julie Doucet, Aurelia Aurita, Debbie Drechsler, Joanna Schipper, Allison Bechdel, Miriam Katin, Dominique Goblet, Sonia Pulido, Olga Carmona, Lola Lorete, Anne Herbauts, Nicole Claveloux, etc…

This is just a bite into the comic industry done by sexy women 😉

Gianni Pacinotti, better known by the pseudonym of Gipi, is an Italian cartoonist, filmmaker, and author.

He is one of the most important cartoonist in Italy and Europe.

After few years without any new comic in the market, happily we have now unahistoria (Salamandra Graphic), thanks Gipi!

He  won the 2005 Goscinny Prize for Best Script and was proclaimed Best Book at AngoulĂȘme in France for the comic Notes for a War Story.

The most interesting thing in  Notes for a War Story was the fact that the names where changing depending on the language used, French towns if the comic was translated into French; the idea was to bring the concept to your town and feel it like real into your skin.

These are his Graphic Novels:

  • Appunti per una Storia di Guerra (Notes for a War Story)
  • Gli Innocenti (The Innocents)
  • Garage Band
  • LMVDM – La mia vita disegnata male (My Life Badly Drawn)
  • unastoria, 2013

His film The Last man in the planet was considered by himself as difficult to define it.

What you can really appreciate in his work is the fact of having in your hands a connection and real compromise with his creation.

He can only go ahead with those stories with soul, otherwise will end up in the basket next day. He will go ahead only when there are already 20 pages.

I truly happy day for those who love his art 😉

Corto Maltese is a comics series featuring an eponymous character, a complex sailor-adventurer. It was created by Italian comic book creator Hugo Pratt in 1967.

Corto Maltese (whose name is possibly derived from the Venetian Corte Maltese – Courtyard of the Maltese, today Corte Contarini del Bovolo, next to Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo) is a laconic sea captain adventuring during the early 20th century (1900-1920s). A “rogue with a heart of gold”, he is tolerant and sympathetic to the underdog. Born in Valletta on July 10, 1887, he is a son of a British sailor from Cornwall and a gypsy Andalusian witch and prostitute known as “La Niña de Gibraltar”. As a boy growing up in the Jewish quarter of CĂłrdoba, Maltese discovered that he had no fate line on his palm and therefore carved his own with his father’s razor, determining that his fate was his to choose. Although maintaining a neutral position, Corto instinctively supports the disadvantaged and oppressed. Corto Maltese’s character is based on a famous Polish adventurer, author and explorer Ossendowski, who collaborated with Roman von Ungern-Sternberg, among others.

Juan Díaz Canales and  Rubén Pellejero from Spain will bring back Corto Maltese in 2015 in production with Caserman (Italy), Norma (Spain) y Rizzoli (Italy). They promise the story and grafics will be pleaseant for everybody. At the moment there are 12 novels in French and Italian, then followed by English.

This is one of the most delicate European comics, you can find the books and films both exquisite.

In my mind i trully believe that my dear Corto Maltese will be sailing in a Swam due his elegance and fantastic personality.

Enjoy it!
